Oxbridge Preparation Weekend
A unique residential course designed to bring prospective students together with expert tutors, Oxbridge graduates and admissions tutors, Getting In’s Oxbridge Preparation Weekend is a must for anyone wanting to give themselves the edge when it comes to applying to Oxford or Cambridge.
Please Note: We are currently considering the means of delivering our Oxbridge Preparation Weekend in a way that is both fully effective and fully compliant with the Government’s guidelines regarding social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oxbridge Preparation
Over the course of three days (Friday-Sunday), attendees will work closely with Oxbridge-educated tutors in their chosen field of study to develop a thorough understanding of the skills and attributes required to apply to Oxford or Cambridge.
Our tutors will work with you to improve your interview skills, highlight areas of improvement and fully manage your expectations when it comes to the Oxford or Cambridge interview processes.

Example Weekend Structure & Content
FRIDAY
Morning: Arrival and Registration
Ensure that you arrive with plenty of time and have registered with a member of the Getting In team.
Mid-Morning: Talks for Students & Parents
Students and parents will benefit from talks by former Oxbridge graduates and admissions experts, explaining what admissions tutors are looking for and detailing how parents can best support their child’s Oxbridge application.
Afternoon: Communication & Interview Skills
Students will have the opportunity to work with communications and interview experts to hone their interpersonal skills during an interview scenario. They will learn how to best present their answers to reflect their competence and academic ability.
Late Afternoon: Mock Exam
If a student is due to sit an admissions test, this will be their opportunity to practise. Feedback is readily available from expert tutors and advisors.
SATURDAY
All Day: Subject Tutorials, Skills & Practice
Working with subject-specific tutors from their chosen field, this will be the students’ opportunity to workshop current understanding of their intended degree subject and highlight areas of improvement. This might include sessions spent with a tutor or building a plan for tackling admissions tests.
Students will also have the opportunity to sit experience a mock subject tutorial, designed to mirror the tutorial-led teaching style favoured by Oxbridge. This will help students gain an understanding of how teaching at Oxbridge works and of the level of academic excellence expected.
SUNDAY
Morning: Detailed Interview Practice
When it comes to succeeding at interview, practice is key. The final day of the Oxbridge Preparation Weekend gives students the chance to attend a series of additional mock interviews, bringing together the skills developed over the course of the weekend.
Afternoon: Group Discussions, Q&A
An opportunity for both students and parents to discuss the weekend’s experiences and ask our experts any questions they have about the Oxbridge application process.
What to Expect
A detailed programme designed to help students understand the Oxbridge application process and what life as an Oxbridge student might be like.
A series of mock interviews in the style preferred by Oxbridge admissions boards across all subject areas.
Support for admissions tests across all subject areas, including the opportunity to practise real past papers.
Interview skills sessions with communication experts, aimed at helping you build a good understanding of how to interview successfully and clearly demonstrate that you have all the attributes Oxbridge looks for in its students.
Support from former Oxbridge students, expert tutors and graduate experts in all subject areas at Oxbridge.
The chance to participate in an Oxbridge-style tutorial, opening your eyes to the ways in which your subject of choice is taught at Oxbridge.
