Oxbridge Mock Interviews
Oxford and Cambridge hold interviews yearly to whittle down the vast number of applications they receive. Studying at Oxford or Cambridge requires an advanced level of critical thinking and academic ability. Admissions tutors use this final part of the admissions process, as well as any admission tests and your personal statement, to get a full picture of what kind of student you are and whether you will suit the style of teaching at that university.
You will be informed whether or not you have been asked to interview by mid-November. Undergraduate admissions interviews then normally take place in December.
One of the unique aspects of studying at Oxbridge is the collegiate systems. You will be interviewed by tutors in your chosen course from the college you have applied to.
What is the benefit of a Oxbridge interview preperation?
It is unlikely you will have experienced anything like an Oxbridge interview before, so practicing in advance with a mock interview is vital. Our package is specifically designed to help you feel confident. Our tutors know what kind of student and what kind of answers the tutors are looking for. They will help you learn how to answer with carefully considered, coherent and structured answers which best demonstrate your intellectual capacity.
Practicing with our expert team also highlights any areas of improvement. Having gone through the process themselves and using extensively researched resources, our tutors will use their knowledge and experience to help you develop any areas of your interviewing performance which are not as strong as they could be.
Mock interviews help students to practice their interview skills. Learn how to answer interview style-questions and understand what etiquette is expected of you.
What kind of Oxbridge interview advice will I receive?
Our tutors are there to help you develop your interview skills and feel more confident in the interview environment.
Admissions tutors won’t hesitate to ask questions deriving from a thorough look at your personal statement. Your interviewers will expect to see the same passion for your subject that you wrote about in your personal statement when they talk to you.
During the mock interview process, each tutor will point out areas of knowledge that you mentioned in your personal statement that need some more investment, or if you lack depth of knowledge in one particular area. While the admission tutors are not trying to catch you out, our mock interview professionals understand how thorough and rigorous interviews can be.
Just as you should for the interview itself, make sure to re-read your personal statement before the interview. If you mentioned a book you read, be certain that you have actually read it!
Not sure which areas you need to improve on? Don’t worry! Each mock interview will be followed by an intensive feedback session.
Oxbridge Interview Practice
You will be taken through the Oxbridge interview process by one of our Oxbridge specialists. This process includes preparation, Oxbridge mock interviews and feedback sessions. Each interview is designed to accurately reflect the real interviews you will experience at Oxford or Cambridge and will therefore give you the best possible insight into what to expect. You will be at a great advantage if you have a good idea of what’s coming!
After your mock interview, your tutor will dedicate time to discussing their feedback with you, noting any areas of improvement and providing advice on how you can improve your interviewing skills and performance.
Provided by the UK’s leading Oxbridge application experts, our Oxbridge Mock Interview Package is entirely bespoke. We will tailor the programme so it completely matches your needs! Whatever stage of interview preparation you are at, we can help. The price for the package is dependent on the level of support you wish to receive, so feel free to call us today to discuss.
What should I expect?
Unlike many other programmes, our package allows you not only to practice interview-style questions but receive detailed and dedicated feedback from our expert tutors.
So, what is included? As part of the package, applicants will benefit from:
A tutor who has gone through the Oxbridge interview process themselves and has studied at either Oxford or Cambridge University. Students will benefit from their first-hand experience as well as being interviewed by someone they don’t know - just like in the real interview. This is therefore the perfect opportunity to practice with someone unfamiliar.
Oxbridge mock interviews based on real subject-specific questions that have been asked in previous interviews. Tutors will conduct the mock interviews in a formal manner, as close to the ‘real thing’ as possible. The aim of these sessions is to help students develop the critical and analytical thinking skills required. Each interview is tailored to you - the questions and style of interview will depend on exactly what course you are applying for.
Detailed feedback and support at every stage. Our tutors will assess your performance based on criteria which echoes that of the Oxbridge admission tutors, and will provide any tips on how you can improve. Feedback will also include advice on how to present yourself, and how to get into the right mindset on the big day.
Flexible study sessions. So that as many students as possible can make the most of our services, applicants can access the package from anywhere in the world, as long as they have internet access! You can decide with your tutor how and when you want your sessions to be delivered. The platform for communication is entirely down to the applicant’s preferences.
Example Packages
Here is an example of what our Oxbridge Mock Interview Packages can look like.
Take Thomas. Thomas is applying for History at Oxford and has just received the good news that he has been accepted for an interview. Before his interview next month, he wants to finesse his answering technique and see what gaps there are in his knowledge.
After purchasing our bespoke Oxbridge Mock Interviews Package, Thomas decides to spread his sessions out over the next month, to allow time for him to actively work on any feedback and fit in additional practice between meetings with his tutor.
Guided by a main tutor, Thomas will benefit from additional support with each of his mock interviews. At each practice stage, applicants are interviewed by a different Oxbridge graduate. This is to ensure that his whole performance is fully analysed and he can receive complete feedback, also allowing him to experience what it is like to be interviewed by someone new. With each session, he will be able to put into practice his newly developed interview skills and see how each tutor responds.
As part of his interview preparation package, Thomas will also be asked questions which have been designed to not only test his knowledge of specific areas of History, but also his views on the wider application of History. One example of a question a tutor may ask is, ‘How would someone start a successful political revolution?’. These slightly more abstract questions are designed to test the student’s academic potential and critical thinking skills. Thomas will learn how to demonstrate that he can answer such questions to prove he is a suitable candidate for the course he is applying for.
After each interview, Thomas will receive thorough feedback, allowing him time to finesse any necessary areas before his real interview. Having gone through several practices, he now feels far more at ease with the whole process!
